The Nerf Raider CS-35 is a 3 star for me because the gun is not all that good but the drum is very good. This drum is a breakthrough in Nerf technology. It can hold 35 darts. You can see how many darts you have left. And If a bullet gets jammed (which it probably won’t) you can twist the speed dial thingy and then go back to shooting. Plus it can fit into guns like the recon, the longshot, and the longstrike. Bottom line, the drum is amazing. Now for the gun itself. It probably shoots as far as the recon but not nearly as accurate and consistent. If you just have the clip in this gun don’t pick it as your main gun. Bottom line, the gun is not very good at shooting but with the drum you have more of a chance of hitting the enemy cause you have more darts. I can’t decide whether I would recommend this to a friend or not. But just to tell you don’t get the RAIDER IF IT DOES NOT COME WITH THE DRUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that this gun is good overall. here are my pros and cons. pros: the drum’s ammo 35 bullets.
the two mode shooting. (slam and single shot)
you can have quick shot clips in it.
cons:prone to jamming
it’s not really rapid fire (you have to hold the trigger and then slam the pump back and fourth)

My friend bought it and was really excited after turning it on auto, but once we started actually playing,we saw how unwieldy it is. He is less than 5 feet and the gun was half his height. He’s probably lifting more weight than he would in a gym.
And the tripod does NOT come off easily. It takes at least 5 seconds to take it off.
Though he likes it a lot, I find it totally horrible for kids.DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! Buy something like the maverick, firefly, or even longshot.

The number one problem with a toy gun this complex is going to be function. I was worried when I bought it in a Thanksgiving morning sale for $21 at Meijer that it would be a short lived toy that would not even last long enough for my then 21 month old son to really get to enjoy it. Granted it has been only 4 months since then, but the gun is in great shape and fires well. It will jam from time to time, but I find it to be a human error and not the mechanics of the gun. A lot of the immediate malfunctions that the 1 star reviewers have given the gun may be a result of handing a 4, 5, 6 year old, or what not, a more advanced piece like this and not having any instruction (maybe the parent also would not be able to offer any insight). The Vulcan is modeled very closely off of the US military’s Squad Automatic Weapon or M249 and its bigger brother the M240G medium machine gun. Personally, I was an assaultman in the Marine Corps and was trained with the SMAW rocket launcher and demolitions, but I did get to use both of these automaitc weapons a few times and worked with many Maichine gunners 0331 and rifelman 0311. I am not going to force my son to join the military or be in the infantry, but if he chooses to do so he will have a good handle on how to effectively load, carry and get behind a belt fed weapon. These last reasons are why I gave it a few stars for educational value, there is more mechanical knowledge with it than most toys and it could actually help lead to a career. Finally, be good to the gun; figure out how to load it properly. Make sure the “teeth” on the feeding tray line up with the belt and that the first dart is directly lined up with the barrel. Have fun.

OK well let’s start with the basics IT’AWSOME it shot forever and is extremely powerful to make it shoot farther take the clip out turn it upside down close the chamber there is a small air escape valve put a piece of tape over it and it will add 10ft to the range and be shore to take off the barrel exstention if you plan to make a longshot(pun) the additional barrel makes it hard to move and hurts the range cause the darts hit the inside of the barrel. Tolaly better than the vulcan if you were going to spend $40 to get the vulcan take the money get this gun and the clip mission kit take the last $1 and start a mutual fund(just kidding)

My granson has totally enjoyed this toy. He wanted it for Christmas and his friends and he play with it daily. It’s durable with the exception of the bullets and they can get messed up “if not taken care of” because they are just sponges. The price is reasonable too. It’s good safe fun.

The Recon CS-6 has all the nice bells and whistles. The problem is, it hardly rings and it hardly whistles. What I mean is that although the gun looks pretty cool and impressive, the performance is lacking. The biggest frustration is it constantly jams, and when it does, it crunches, it pinches, and deforms the darts. It may still shoots, but once you end end up with squashed darts, your aim will suffer much. It shoots all over the place. The darts are not cheap, particularly the streamline orange tips, which unfortunately the only one it takes. It will not work with the suction tip nor the whistler types.

I will stick with the Maverick. My older son gave up with the CS-6 and asked to have the same gun as his younger brother has. The CS-6 is also much stiffer and harder to cock, and so only my older 9-yr old son can use it.

It comes with a clip and 6 streamline bullets. A laser scope is mounted below the detachable barrel. A shoulder attachment to steady your aim. And folding sight for targeting.
